I’ve been applying for work for weeks already. I got so excited when I finally got accepted to a company. It was my
first time after studying overseas. I worked at restaurants before but this is the first time I managed to land a job
where I can use the degree I studied. I was the only woman in the department. Being a newbie to the job means
that I have this urge to meet the expectations of everybody to earn their trust, and also to impress them with my
skills and capabilities. The first weeks were hard. Almost every night I get left behind to finish last minute work my
boss bring to my table. I didn’t think anything of this at first since I thought it was among my responsibilities. But
soon enough, I realized that I’m getting more than my share of my work. Not only that, I was also getting sexual
innuendos from my colleagues from time to time. There was even this one time when I was walking towards the
elevator and my workmate slapped my back. I chose to not mind it because I do not want to be kicked out of work
but I felt embarrassed by the whole incident that I didn’t come to work the next day. I looked for a way to address
this. Good thing while I was browsing the internet, I stumbled into this site. I learned all about my rights and what I
can do to the incident. I was hesitant at first, but the people here gave me confidence to proceed. They even gave
me a means to get in touch with a lawyer to help me through all the legal aspects of this incident. I cannot say how
thankful I am because I managed to get in touch with the nice people here. They helped me through a lot.
